Many families have asked about the next steps for our 14U / 8th grade players for this summer and the upcoming fall season.
This summer, ALL players will continue playing with their current Slammers teams.
For Fall 2026, we will hold a workout/tryout on April 16, 2026 to evaluate players for our HS Fall Select Team.
This workout is for all current 2030 graduates (14U or 13U) and 8th graders — both within and outside of the Slammers program. The purpose of this evaluation is to properly place players from the 2030 class onto a HS Fall Select team.
Even if you:
- Are unsure about playing this fall
- Plan to play football or another fall sport
- Are considering returning next summer
You should still attend this workout/tryout so we can properly evaluate you moving forward.
Questions About High School Programs
We understand that many 8th graders are already being contacted by prospective high school coaches.
Do you have to play for them this summer? No.
Do you have to play for them this fall? No.
Each high school will host winter workouts in 2026–2027, followed by official tryouts to form their Spring 2027 teams. That is when you need to be fully committed and present if you plan to pursue that program.
If you feel strongly about playing for your high school in the fall, we understand and respect that decision. We will welcome you back whenever you decide to return to Slammers.
However, under no circumstances should you leave your 14U Slammers team in a difficult position this summer. That is the quickest way to jeopardize future opportunities within the program. Enter the right way, and always leave the right way — and you will always have a place at Slammers.
While we cannot guarantee that every current Slammers player will make a team, our goal is to place everyone appropriately. In fact, we have only had one year where we were unable to place a small number of players.
We are committed to doing this the right way for our players and families.

How Too Much Screen Time Affects Your Hitting Performance
Over 50% of teenagers spend 4+ hours a day on screens — fatiguing the same visual system that tracks a 400-millisecond pitch. Screen time degrades eye function, disrupts sleep, and slows reaction time. The habits no one sees are costing you at-bats.
The Science of Hitting for Power
Power doesn't come from swinging harder — it comes from physics. Learn how the kinetic chain, launch angle, and timing work together to produce exit velocities that turn routine fly balls into extra-base hits. The science is real, and every variable is trainable.
